Mold Removal in Ducts

Have you been told you have mold in your HVAC Ducts in your home or place of business? We specialize in dealing and removing mold in duct systems for both residential and commercial accounts and service the Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Fuquay Varina and Holly Springs Areas.

Mold in your ducts is not something one should take lightly as mold can cause a number of health issues leading to respiratory illness. And if you have allergies or asthma you are at an even higher risk.

According to the CDC the most important thing you can do to control mold is to control humidity levels. A properly working clean HVAC system and duct work is the key to keeping humidity at the proper level, which should be no higher than 50% all day long.

The EPA stresses that if you have a known mold problem you need to ACT QUICKLY. Mold damages what it grows on. The longer it grows the more damage it can cause. The last thing you want is that damage to affect your family’s health.

Duct cleaning can improve the air quality in the home as a stand-alone service, however if you are experiencing mold problems in the ducts it is recommended to do a full system service and cleaning. Failure to clean a component of the system may lead to re-contamination of the entire system, ending up in a waste of both time and money. Therefore, it is so important to make sure that you are careful in choosing your service provider and making sure that not only are they cleaning the entire system but that they are qualified to do so.

The EPA has notated it is a good idea to get your ducts cleaned for mold if “there is substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface (e.g., sheet metal) ducts or on other components of your heating and cooling system. There are several important points to understand concerning mold detection in heating and cooling systems:

  • Many sections of your heating and cooling system may not be accessible for a visible inspection, so ask the service provider to show you.
  • If you have insulated air ducts and the insulation gets wet or moldy it cannot be effectively cleaned and should be removed and replaced.
  • If the conditions causing the mold growth in the first place are not corrected, mold growth will recur.”

If you think that you may need duct cleaning for mold but are not sure it is important to talk to a professional. Call us for a free estimate at (919) 886-4822 or Text at (919) 551-5996
